The Aqueduct of Diocletian is a Roman water supply system near Split, Croatia, built in the late 3rd and early 4th century AD to provide water to the emperor Diocletian's palace [1][2]. Constructed simultaneously with Diocletian's retirement residence, the aqueduct carried water to the palace complex [1][2]. The structure supplied not only the imperial residences and weaving workshops within the palace but probably also served surrounding villages [2]. This engineering feat demonstrates the sophisticated hydraulic technology of the late Roman Empire [1][2].
