Scythian Neapolis (Kermenchik) was an Iranic settlement in the Crimean Peninsula from the late 3rd century BC to the mid-3rd century AD [1]. It served as the capital of the Late Scythian Kingdom and Great Scythia, functioning as the fortress and palace where Scythian kings such as Skilurus and Palacus resided [1]. The settlement ruled over lands between the lower Dnieper and Crimea [1]. Archaeological ruins sit on the outskirts of present-day Simferopol [1]. The city was destroyed by the Goths in the mid-3rd century AD [1]. First excavated in 1945 by Schultz and Golovkina, it represents a key archaeological site for understanding Late Scythian culture [1].
