Penrhos Feilw Standing Stones

The Penrhos Feilw Standing Stones are a pair of Bronze Age monoliths located 1.75 miles southwest of Holyhead on Holy Island, west of Anglesey in north-west Wales. Each stone stands approximately 3 m (10 ft) tall, about 0.9 m wide at the base, and only 20-30 cm thick, set roughly 3.3 m apart on open grassland. Erected around 2000-1500 BC, their purpose remains unknown -- they may have held ritual significance, served as a tribal gathering marker, or represent an unfinished monument. Local tradition suggests a cist burial once existed between the stones, though no supporting evidence has been found.
