Holyhead Mountain Hut Circles

Ty Mawr Hut Circles on Holyhead Mountain, Anglesey, are the remains of a prehistoric farming settlement with over 50 original circular stone dwellings, of which about 20 survive. Occupation spans from the late Neolithic through the Iron Age (limpet shells dated to 200 BC) and into the Roman period. The thick-walled huts supported conical thatched roofs and contained hearths, querns, and evidence of metalworking. First excavated by W.O. Stanley in the 1860s, the site is managed by Cadw.
