Perthi-Duon Burial Chamber

Perthi-Duon is a Neolithic portal dolmen located west of Brynsiencyn on Anglesey, Wales, dating to around 3500 BC. The collapsed burial chamber consists of a 2.5m by 1.8m capstone resting on two fallen stones. It is one of eighteen stone chambered monuments within a 1.5km corridor along the Menai Straits, and its architecture appears to be a blueprint for other portal dolmens in the Irish Sea Province. A 2014 excavation led by Dr. George Nash uncovered a compacted-stone kidney-shaped cairn mound surrounding the chamber, with an east-west oriented entrance. Bodies were likely deposited as cremated remains or disarticulated skeletal material.
