Perthi-Duon Burial Chamber

Perthi-Duon is a Neolithic portal dolmen located west of Brynsiencyn on Anglesey, Wales, dating to around 3500 BC [1] [2]. The collapsed burial chamber consists of a 2.5m by 1.8m capstone resting on two fallen stones [1]. It is one of eighteen stone chambered monuments within a 1.5km corridor along the Menai Straits, and its architecture appears to be a blueprint for other portal dolmens in the Irish Sea Province [2]. A 2014 excavation led by Dr. George Nash uncovered a compacted-stone kidney-shaped cairn mound surrounding the chamber [1] [2]. Bodies were likely deposited as cremated remains or disarticulated skeletal material [2].
