Ruins of the principal city of the Cibyratis, a 2nd-century BC confederation of four cities (Kibyra, Bubon, Balubura, Oenoanda) where Kibyra held two votes. At its peak it could muster 30,000 infantry and 2,000 cavalry. Rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 23 AD with imperial Roman support. Notable remains include a 197-meter stadium seating 10,000, a 9,000-capacity theatre, and the celebrated Medusa mosaic in the odeon. On Turkey's UNESCO Tentative List since 2016.
