Italica

Italica was an ancient Roman city in Hispania, located near present-day Santiponce in Seville province, Spain[1]. Founded in 206 BC by Roman general Scipio Africanus as a colonia for his Italic veterans, it was named after them[1]. The settlement grew through migration from the Italian peninsula and unions between Roman soldiers and local women[1]. Notably, branches of the gens Ulpia from Tuder and gens Aelia from Hadria settled there; these families produced emperors Trajan and Hadrian, both born in Italica[1].
