Čurug

Čurug is one of the oldest settlements in Vojvodina, inhabited since the Neolithic period. The multi-layered Stari Vinogradi archaeological site nearby has yielded over 950 features spanning ten cultural periods, from the Bronze Age through the medieval era. A spectacular silver hoard of Celtic jewelry including bracelets, serpent-head fibulae, and arm-rings dates to the late 4th-3rd century BC, linking the site to the Scordisci Celts. Ritual objects such as a lead votive wheel dedicated to Taranis and traces of Iazyges and Roman-era occupation have also been found.
