Giants' Graves

Giants' tombs are Sardinian megalithic gallery graves built during the Bronze Age (c. 1800-1000 BC) by the Nuragic civilization, with over 800 examples discovered across the island. These communal burial structures feature long rectangular chambers 5-15 metres long, roofed with massive stone slabs and fronted by a semicircular exedra. The slab type features a central stele up to 4 metres high with a doorway cut through it. From above, the tombs resemble stylized bull heads, symbolizing masculine strength and fertility.
