The archaeological park of Santa Cristina in Paulilatino, Sardinia, centers on one of the finest Nuragic sacred wells, dating to the Late Bronze Age (12th century BC). The well temple features finely worked basalt blocks forming a trapezoid entrance, a descending staircase of 25 steps, and an underground tholos (false dome) chamber built in concentric rings over a perennial spring. During equinoxes, sunlight aligns through the opening to illuminate the water below, and every 18.6 years the moon reflects on the well's surface at lunistice. The complex also includes a circular meeting hut, a single-tower nuraghe, and an unexcavated Nuragic village.
