Pech Merle

Pech Merle is a prehistoric cave at Cabrerets in the Lot département of Occitania, France, about 32 km east of Cahors[1]. It spans over 2 km across two levels, with 1,200 m open to visitors[1]. The cave contains dramatic murals painted during the Gravettian culture, with some works possibly dating to the later Magdalenian era[1]. It is one of the few French prehistoric cave painting sites still open to the public[1].
