Beacon Hill, Leicestershire

Beacon Hill is a Bronze Age hill fort site in Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire, rising to 248 m above sea level. Defensive earthworks discovered near the summit confirmed the presence of a fortified settlement believed to be up to 3,000 years old. In 1858, bronze jewellery, an axe, and a spearhead were unearthed at the site, now displayed at Charnwood Museum in Loughborough. The monument includes a slight univallate hillfort, a linear boundary, and an enclosure, and is legally protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument by Historic England.
