Lesingey Round

Located 1.6 km west of Penzance, Cornwall, Lesingey Round is a ringfort (a smaller hillfort) dating from the late Iron Age to the early post-Roman period (1st century BC – 7th century AD) [1]. It is a 'round' – the Cornish term for a small circular embanked enclosure with a single entrance, common throughout Cornwall [1]. The site sits at the summit of a wooded hill and features a circular bank measuring 3.7–4.6 metres in width [1]. As a scheduled monument, it represents an important example of defensive settlement architecture from late prehistoric into early medieval Cornwall [1].
