Boleigh Fogou

Boleigh Fogou is an Iron Age underground dry-stone passage near St Buryan in Cornwall, considered one of the best-preserved fogous in the county. Unusual for having more than one entrance, it features a main passage with classic dry-stone and lintel construction plus a side chamber. Excavation yielded Iron Age pottery and a carved figure with a raised arm holding an unidentified object, possibly a spear. A 1996 Time Team investigation discovered remains of an early Iron Age house enclosed by an oval wall adjacent to the fogou, suggesting ritual or ceremonial use.
