Glevum

Glevum was a Roman fort that became a colonia (a settlement for retired legionaries) in AD 97 [1]. Today, the site is occupied by modern Gloucester, the county town of Gloucestershire, England [1]. The Roman name Glevum survives in local usage, including the 26-mile Glevum Way long-distance footpath that encircles the city [1].
