Temple of Umm Ubayd

The Temple of Umm Ubayda is a 30th Dynasty Egyptian temple in the Siwa Oasis, built around 360 BC by King Nectanebo II [1]. It was the second temple dedicated to the god Amun in the oasis, located about 4 km east of Siwa, alongside the more famous Temple of the Oracle [1]. The name "Umm Ubayda" is believed to be a corruption of "Umm Ma'bad," as it was known in the 1800s [1]. In 1897, a senior official demolished the temple to repurpose its stones for building stairs at a police station and his home [1]. Only ruins of broken stones and Greek inscriptions remain [1].
