Ancient Carian city on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, with origins dating to the 10th century BC. [1] The archaeological site features a fortified acropolis with Byzantine walls, a well-preserved theatre seating 5,000 spectators, and six temples (two Hellenistic, four Roman). [1] Additional highlights include a palaestra with Roman baths, a domed Byzantine basilica, port agora, stoa, and nymphaeum. [1] Located near modern Dalyan in Muğla Province. [1]
