The Eastern Cemetery at Giza, also known as the East Field, lies immediately east of the three Queen's Pyramids of Khufu (c. 2589-2566 BC). It contains large stone mastaba tombs arranged in roughly seven rows, housing members of Khufu's royal family and high-ranking officials. Notable burials include Queen Hetepheres I and Queen Meresankh III, whose double-mastaba contains colorful reliefs and statues. Later mastabas from the 5th and 6th Dynasties belong to priests and tenants of the pyramid complexes. The cemetery remains a key source for understanding Old Kingdom social hierarchy and funerary practices.
