Pyramid G1-a

Pyramid G1-a is the northernmost of three queens' pyramids in the Giza East Field, built during the Fourth Dynasty east of the Great Pyramid of Khufu. Originally attributed to Queen Meritetes, it is now considered the secondary burial site of Queen Hetepheres I. The pyramid had a base of 49.5 m and originally stood 30.25 m high, but has lost two-thirds of its height. A deep burial shaft discovered east of the pyramid contained precious objects belonging to Hetepheres I, and a small boat pit was found to its south.
