Cacaxtla is an archaeological site in southern Tlaxcala, Mexico, that flourished 650-900 CE as a major trade hub with a population of up to 10,000 people [1]. The site features a sprawling palace renowned for vibrant murals painted in Maya style [1]. Associated with the nearby ceremonial complex at Xochitecatl, Cacaxtla was inhabited by the Olmeca-Xicalanca people and contains a ballcourt and additional structures [1][2]. The murals depict battles, religious ceremonies, and everyday life, and rank among Mesoamerica's most significant ancient paintings [2].
