Oinoanda (or Oenoanda) was an ancient Lycian city on an isolated hilltop in the upper Xanthus valley, near modern Incealiler in Mugla Province, Turkey. The site features a well-preserved 10 m high Hellenistic city wall of polygonal masonry, an aqueduct with stone siphon pipes, and remains of a Roman bridge. Its most famous feature is the monumental Epicurean inscription by 2nd-century AD philosopher Diogenes, originally approximately 25,000 words spanning over 200 feet of wall. By 2007, 299 fragments had been recovered, estimated at only 20-25% of the original text. The city joined the Lycian League in 84 BC.
