Neolithic megalithic tombs known as the Polish or Kuyavian Pyramids, dating to c. 3500-2500 BC and built by the Funnel Beaker culture. The elongated triangular mounds reach up to 150m in length and 3m in height, surrounded by large boulders weighing over a tonne. Each tomb required an estimated 600 tonnes of earth and 200 tonnes of stone, containing elite single burials. Excavations revealed cranial trepanation on skeletal remains, showing advanced medical knowledge. A Cultural Park was established in 2006 to protect these monuments, which predate both the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge.
