Gorzyczki, Silesian Voivodeship

Gorzyczki is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland, near the Czech border. Archaeological excavations have uncovered traces of human activity spanning from the Stone Age through the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and antiquity. In the Middle Ages, the settlement was part of Piast-ruled Poland and featured a motte-and-bailey castle. The village first appeared in written records during the 13th century. During WWII, it was the site of Polenlager 169, a camp for Polish civilians who resisted Nazi forced labor.
