Pont Vell, Santa Eulària des Riu

An ancient bridge crossing the Riu de Santa Eularia, the only river on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Its origins are considered Roman, built during the island's Romanization period (c. 25 BC - 75 AD), though the current structure likely dates to the 16th or 17th century on Roman foundations. Pont Vell served as the main entrance to Santa Eularia des Riu from the west until the Pont Nou was built in 1918. A constant target for pirate attacks due to regular grain transport to water mills, it was locally known as the 'devil's bridge.' Today it functions solely as a footbridge.
