Inti Watana, Calca

Inti Watana is an Inca archaeological site in the Pisac District of Calca Province, Cusco Region, Peru. The name means 'hitching post of the sun' in Quechua, referring to a carved ritual stone believed to have served as an astronomical observatory tracking the sun's movements to determine growing seasons. The site is part of the broader Pisac Archaeological Park, built by Emperor Pachacuti after 1440, which spans seven architectural zones across the mountainside above the Sacred Valley.
