Cuchi Machay

Cuchi Machay (Cuchimachay) is an archaeological rock art site in Peru's Lima Region, Yauyos Province, Tanta District, situated at approximately 4,500 metres elevation near lakes Mullucocha and La Escalera at the foot of the sacred Apu Pariacaca. The cave paintings, thought to be over 9,000 years old, feature large stylized camelid figures including depictions of pregnant females with the fetus visible in the belly. Modern DStretch analysis revealed numerous human figures invisible to the naked eye. Declared National Cultural Heritage of Peru in 2013 by Resolucion Viceministerial No. 011-2013-VMPCIC-MC.
