Tarmatambo

Tarmatambo is an Inca highland settlement active from approximately 1400-1530 CE in the Junin Region of Peru. The site served as an administrative center connecting the central sierra to the eastern cloud forest, featuring stone-lined canals for water management, qollqas (storehouses), and stepped stone foundations built into the hillside. Some irrigation channels carved by Inca engineers remain in active use by modern farmers. Declared National Cultural Heritage of Peru in 2002.
