The Ships of De Meern

The Ships of De Meern are a collection of Roman wooden vessels discovered in De Meern, Utrecht, Netherlands. Between 1997 and 2008, archaeologists recovered multiple ships in varying states of preservation near the sites of former Roman castellums Laurum (Woerden) and Nigrum Pullum (Zwammerdam). The discovery area was part of the Roman limes from 47 to 260 AD, serving as a crucial border defense system along the Rhine River. [1]
