Fectio

Fectio was a Roman castellum (fortress) in the province Germania Inferior, established in 4 or 5 AD at the strategic confluence where the river Vecht branched from the Rhine, leading to Lake Flevo (later the Zuiderzee). Located near modern Vechten in Bunnik, Utrecht, it served as a key military installation along the Roman northern frontier, controlling river traffic and defending the empire's boundary.
