Tombs of Malta

A collection of prehistoric burial sites across the Maltese archipelago dating from approximately 4100 BC onward. The most significant is the Xaghra Stone Circle (Brochtorff Circle) on Gozo, an underground collective cemetery within natural caves that may have held remains of up to 1,000 individuals, making it potentially the richest Neolithic collective cemetery ever discovered. The sites include rock-cut tombs at Xemxija, gallery graves at Ta' Cenc, and hypogea across Malta and Gozo.
