Debdieba

Debdieba is a Megalithic temple in Luqa, Malta, dating to approximately 3000-2500 BC. First excavated by Sir Themi Zammit in 1914, the dig uncovered pottery fragments though most structural remains were already destroyed. The site was known locally as "the place of the echo" due to acoustics created by surrounding hills. In the 1960s, the majority of the site was buried during construction of an extension to Luqa airport's runway. Concerns about the site's survival resurfaced in 2007 when Lufthansa Technik began building a hangar nearby.
