Għajn Tuffieħa Roman Baths

The Ghajn Tuffieha Roman Baths near Mgarr, Malta, were discovered in 1929 during waterworks and excavated by Sir Themistocles Zammit. Dating to the late 1st and early 2nd centuries AD, the complex includes a tepidarium, frigidarium, caldarium built on arches for heating, a large natatio swimming pool, and a communal latrine for 12 persons. The baths were backfilled in 2019 and 2021 by Heritage Malta as a preservation measure and are now permanently closed to visitors.
