Bhairavakona Waterfalls

A Shaivite rock-cut cave temple complex in the Nallamala Hills, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, built between 600-630 AD under Pallava king Mahendra Varma and later expanded by the Chola dynasty. The cluster includes eight sub-shrines dedicated to different forms of Lord Shiva, with 101 Shivalingas carved into the rock face. The adjacent waterfalls drop over 200 m from the Lingala Penta River. A unique phenomenon occurs when moonlight falls directly on the idol of Goddess Durga during Karthika Pournami and Maha Shivaratri.
