Aconbury Camp

Aconbury Camp is an Iron Age hillfort on Aconbury Hill in Herefordshire, England, about 4 miles (6 km) south of Hereford [1]. It is a scheduled monument [2] encompassing approximately 17½ acres in a rough rectangular layout [3]. The fort features a bank rising to five metres with a ditch and counterscarp bank, plus in-turned entrances on the southeast and southwest sides, with the southwest entrance having an outwork [4]. Pottery found on the site indicates it was permanently occupied [5].
