Xaman-Ha

Xaman-Ha was a significant coastal Maya settlement strategically positioned in present-day Playa del Carmen's Playacar area [1]. Operating during the Post Classic period (approximately 1150-1526 AD), it served as a vital commercial port and gateway for pilgrims traveling to sacred shrines on Cozumel Island (Tatun Cuzamil) [1]. The surviving structures reflect the distinctive East Coast architectural style characteristic of Caribbean coastal Maya sites like Tulum, Xel Ha, and El Meco [1].
