Tulum

Pre-Columbian Maya walled city and major port for Coba, Tulum flourished on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula from the 13th to 15th centuries[1]. The ruins sit atop 12-meter (39 ft) cliffs along the eastern coastline[1]. One of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya, it was continuously occupied for roughly 70 years after Spanish arrival in Mexico before being abandoned by the late 16th century[1]. Today, Tulum ranks among the best-preserved coastal Maya sites and is a major tourist destination[1].
