Bhutalinga Buddhist Caves

A group of Hinayana Buddhist rock-cut caves on Manmodi Hill near Junnar, Maharashtra, dating from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD. The Bhutalinga group contains the largest and most well-preserved chaitya hall on Manmodi Hill, with an entrance featuring a fan-shaped lotus motif divided into seven petal-shaped compartments. A notable inscription records the donation of a hall-front to the Buddhist Sangha by a Yavana (Greek) donor named Chanda, evidencing international connections during the Satavahana era.
