Khuntichi Vaat Hadsar Fort

Hadsar Fort is a stone hill fort standing in ruins in the Junnar region of Pune district, Maharashtra [1]. The fort is believed to have been built in the Satavahana era, and its entrance gate, sentries' rooms, water cisterns and steps are all hewn out of one rock [1]. The Treaty of Purandar between King Shivaji and the Moghuls named the fort, and British troops took the stronghold in 1818 [1]. A temple of Mahdev stands at the top of the fort and holds stone-cut idols of Ganesh, Garud and Hanuman [1]. The fort stands near Hadsar village, which lies 13 km north-west of Junnar [1].
