Talaja Caves

The Talaja Caves are an ancient rock-cut cave complex in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, dating from the 2nd century BC [1]. The site comprises approximately 30 caves, of which around 15 function as water tanks [1]. The caves feature unique architecture known as Ebhal Mandapa, with plain halls and chaitya windows on the facade [1]. The chaitya and cells were carved during a period of Buddhist influence [1].
