Megalithic temple complex in Qrendi, Malta, dating to approximately 3600-3200 BC, making it among the oldest freestanding temples in the world. Built from globigerina limestone, the complex features a trilithon entrance, porthole doorways cut from single megaliths, and a massive 20-ton entrance stone. Discovered in 1839, further excavations in 1885 yielded fertility-associated statuettes and a limestone altar, now housed at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 as part of the Megalithic Temples of Malta, with protective shelters erected in 2009 to slow deterioration.
