Sanctuary of Hera at the tip of the Perachora peninsula on the Corinthian Gulf, founded in the 8th century BC. Two cult areas honoured Hera Akraia and Hera Limenia, with a 6th-century BC temple built over a 9th-century apsidal structure. Excavated by Humfry Payne for the British School at Athens in 1930-1933, the site yielded rich bronzes, terracottas, and ivories. An L-shaped stoa and agora were added in the 5th century BC, and a large cistern in the 4th century BC. The sanctuary declined after the Roman sack of Corinth in 146 BC.
