Akkale

A Roman port administration complex near Tarsus in Cilicia, Turkey, built in the 4th century AD, though its main building may date to the 1st century as a palace of Archelaus of Cappadocia. The five-storey main structure features a spiral staircase and corbels from a demolished encircling balcony. The complex includes one of Cilicia's largest cisterns at over 17,000 cubic metres, used to supply water to ships, plus a domed structure believed to be a church.
