Roma Tiyatrosu

Roma Tiyatrosu ("Roman Theatre" in Turkish) refers to one of several ancient Roman theatres across Turkey. Notable examples include the Iznik Roman Theatre, built during Emperor Trajan's reign in the 2nd century AD, which seated 15,000 spectators across 19 tiers and stretched 84 metres in length. In the 8th century, its stonework was dismantled and reused in Iznik's city walls. Excavations have uncovered terracotta lamps, coins, ceramics, and belt buckles providing insights into Roman-era daily life. The Ankara Roman Theatre is another prominent example, located on the northwest slope of Ankara Castle.
