Karasis Kalesi

Karasis Kalesi is a Seleucid fortress on Mount Karasis in Cilicia, Turkey. The fortress sits on an isolated ridge rising to about 1000m in the foothills of the eastern Taurus Mountains, near Kozan in Adana Province [1]. The site was discovered in 1994 by epigrapher Mustafa Hamdi Sayar, who was guided to the ruins by local villagers [1]. The fortification comprises an upper and lower citadel, likely constructed in the early 2nd century BC by the Macedonian Seleucids [1]. While ancient texts mention a treasury fortress called Kyinda in the Taurus, scholars have ruled out Karasis as this location [1].
