Meydancık Castle

Meydancik Castle, originally known as Kirshu, is a 7th-century BC Luwian fortification atop a 700-metre hill in Mersin Province, Turkey. It served as the capital of the Luwian state of Pirundu in southern Anatolia, west of the Goksu River. The roughly rectangular fortification covers approximately 750 by 150 metres and features Syro-Hittite and later Persian-Hellenistic architectural elements. The site includes defensive towers, gates, and is identified as KRS (Kirsi/Kirshu) in neo-Babylonian chronicles before its destruction around 235 BC in the Hellenistic period.
