Tlos Ruins

Tlos is one of the oldest and most important Lycian cities, established over 4,000 years ago in the Xanthos Valley near modern Seydikemer, Mugla Province, Turkey. Hittite texts from the 15th-14th century BC reference a place called 'Dalawa,' believed to be Tlos. It held three voting rights as one of six major cities in the Lycian League (168 BC). Key remains include rock-cut tombs with the Tomb of Bellerophon, a Roman theater, stadium, baths, and a Byzantine basilica. Added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2009.
