Patara

Patara (1500-500 BC) was an ancient Lycian maritime city and at times the capital of Lycia. The extensive ruins include a 6,000-seat theatre, a bouleuterion (council house), a main street flanked by Ionic colonnades, the Arch of Medustus, Roman baths, a lighthouse, Hadrian's granary, and remnants of an aqueduct. Once a major port, the ancient harbor is now a swamp choked with sand and vegetation.[1]
