Demircili Anıt Mezarları

Demircili (ancient Imbriogon) in Silifke district, Mersin Province, Turkey, contains remarkably well-preserved Roman-era monumental tombs dating from the first half of the 2nd to the first half of the 3rd century AD. Part of a concentration of approximately 40 such tombs across Demircili, Canbazli, Elaiussa Sebaste, and Olba in ancient Cilicia, these "prestige structures" were built by wealthy families to display their status. Their preservation quality is rare in Anatolia. However, experts warn that serious cracks have developed in the temple tombs and urgent restoration is needed to prevent collapse from seismic activity.
