The Roman Forum was the main public area of Emerita Augusta, founded in 25 BC by Emperor Augustus. The complex was later joined by the Provincial Forum in 50 AD. Together with other archaeological sites in Merida, the forum was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 [1].
