Castro de Porto de Baixo

Castro de Porto de Baixo is an Iron Age archaeological site within the Dunes of Corrubedo Natural Park in Galicia, Spain. It was inhabited between the 4th and 2nd centuries BC, coinciding with the maximum flowering of the Castro culture in northwestern Iberia. The site is one of several castros along this coastline, part of a rich archaeological landscape that includes petroglyphs, megalithic tombs, menhirs, and the nearby Oleiros Dolmen. Castro culture settlements like Porto de Baixo were characterized by fortified hilltop positions, round stone houses, and economies based on cattle breeding, agriculture, and exploitation of marine resources.
